At this birth, there was no one who was not moved! It was an amazing moment when a mother gave birth to a baby who was still inside the ᴀᴍɴɪᴏᴛɪᴄ sᴀᴄ. On November 22nd, in Barcarena, Para State, northern Brazil, mom Beatriz Azevedo gave birth to twins via ᴄᴀᴇsᴀʀɪᴀɴ sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ for the first time.

The twins are named Eloise and Julia Azevedo. The first to come into the world was Eloise, at 10:08 p.m., with her water ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ. Two minutes later, it was her twin Julia’s turn. To the medics’ surprise, Julia came out still inside the intact ᴀᴍɴɪᴏᴛɪᴄ sᴀᴄ, as seen in this remarkable footage.

Known as an “ᴇɴ ᴄᴀᴜʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ,” the phenomenon is known to happen in less than one in 80,000 deliveries. This is because the fluid-filled membrane usually ʙʀᴇᴀᴋs when the expectant mother is about to go into ʟᴀʙᴏʀ – a process commonly known as “ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ ʙʀᴇᴀᴋɪɴɢ.”

Obstetric nurse Geovany Magalhaes of Dr. Anna Turan Maternal and Child Hospital told local media: “This allowed the mother and her companion to see the baby still inside the ᴀᴍɴɪᴏᴛɪᴄ sᴀᴄ, acting as if she were inside the ᴜᴛᴇʀɪɴᴇ environment.”

After being removed from the ᴀᴍɴɪᴏᴛɪᴄ sᴀᴄ, Julia received first aid and was then swiftly reunited with her mother, Beatriz, 25, and her sister in the ᴏᴘᴇʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ room. The girls are the first children of Beatriz and dad Marcos Sena, both 25.

Beatriz recalled the moment Julia came out, telling the local media: “All the doctors were buzzing and in awe. They said to record the moment before the sᴀᴄ ʙʀᴏᴋᴇ.”

As of November 26, the newborns were still in the hospital and will only be released when they gain enough weight, as they were born prematurely at 36 weeks. Their mother is reported to be doing well.
