In December 2015, a stray, sick and emaciated Husky dog with a coat full of mange roamed the streets of Sacramento, and was discovered and rescued by the staff of the Front Street Animal Shelter just in time.
The Husky dog was extremely friendly, despite being abandoned and suffering for a long time. When brought to the Front Street Animal Shelter for care, the dog quickly bonded with the staff, and was named Sugar as a result.
After spending two weeks at the shelter, the beloved dog Sugar was transferred to the home of a volunteer before Christmas, where it lived with another small dog named Piel, who was recovering from burn wounds.
Instead of being given medication that made Sugar dizzy, the volunteer used medicated water to bathe the dog. Sugar was delighted to be clean and fresh-smelling, and even learned to stand on two legs to ask for a bath.
Sugar is still in the process of recovery and its coat will gradually grow back to its former beauty. Moreover, once fully recovered, the staff at the animal shelter will find a loving home for Sugar to take care of it.
