Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania revealed a new look at the Pym-Van Dyne Family’s new threads.

Originally shared by USA Today, the image of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster features Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) alongside Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly). All three characters are wearing what many fans are describing as post-apocalyptic gear. The original Ant-Man and his daughter sport draped robes and goggles while the former Wasp covers her head with a brown hood. While the origin of these new clothes is unknown, the movie’s trailers suggest they’re picked up when the characters are transported to the Quantum Realm.

While details on Quantumania‘s plot remain scarce, the film’s marketing has confirmed that Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and his family of shrinking superheroes will need to work together to escape their subatomic fate. In doing so, Ant-Man will need to work with the ominous Kang the Conquer (Jonathan Majors) to achieve his goal, a strategy that will have major consequences for the larger MCU.

“People felt like, ‘Oh, these are fun little palate cleansers after a gigantic Avengers movie,'” said director Peyton Reed. “For this third one, I said, ‘I don’t want to be the palate cleanser anymore. I want to be the big Avengers movie.'” Marvel Studios has confirmed that Kang will serve as the core antagonist of the Multiverse Saga, continuing a trend established in the Disney+ series Loki when it was revealed a version of him was behind the Time Variance Authority.

In discussing the inspirations behind his performance as Kang, Majors explained that Josh Brolin’s Thanos had a big impact on how he viewed the character. “What Josh Brolin did so beautifully with Thanos was that he tried to make him as three-dimensional as possible to make it very clear, you know, and he really believed in it,” the actor said. “I think with Kang, my objective with every role I play is to make them as universal and as human as possible.” The actor elaborated that what drew him to the role wasn’t that his character was a villain, but something far grander. “And they were like, he’s a supervillain, and I went, ‘Hmm, I’m into that,'” Majors said.
