Manchester United have ramped up their search for David De Gea’s replacement and have identified two possible successors.

Despite publicly insisting that he wants to keep De Gea, Erik ten Hag has provided no assurances that the Spaniard will remain first choice at Old Trafford.

De Gea’s deal expires at the end of the season and he’s expected to sign a new deal – albeit on reduced terms – to extend his 12-year stay at the club.

But, following another costly error against West Ham on Sunday, United are exploring replacements for the Spaniard.

Brentford star David Raya has 14 months to run on his deal in north-west London and he’s rejected two proposals to extend his deal.

The Spaniard – who is ahead of De Gea in the pecking order for the national side – is adept with the ball at his feet.

The Bees will reluctantly listen to offers for Raya but will not accept anything lower than around £35m.

The Portuguese ace has attracted interest from across Europe with his expert distribution, that has seen him likened to Manchester City ace Ederson.

However, Ten Hag’s priority is signing a top class centre forward and United must be wary of complying with Financial Fair Play rules following a £220m outlay last summer.
