Vin Diesel and the stars of Furious 7 remembered their late co-star Paul Walker on Sunday at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

‘Paul Walker is here in spirit with us!’ Diesel said while accepting the award at the Galen Center for Choice Movie: Action/Adventure with co-stars Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez and Ludacris.

Walker died in November 2013 in a high-speed car accident following a charity event while Furious 7 was still filming.

‘I can’t stand here and be rewarded like this without talking about somebody very, very, very important to us,’ said Diesel who was clad in a forest green tank-top and sunglasses.

‘One of the best blessings in our lives is the fact that we had the opportunity to call Pablo our brother. Paul Walker is here in spirit with us!,’ he added.

A photo of Walker was shown on a large screen behind them as Diesel, Brewster and Rodriguez held hands. Ludacris stood nearby and held the surfboard-shaped award.

Diesel said that Walker’s family provided encouragement as they filmed the movie that opened in April and has earned more than $1.5 billion at the box office.

‘And since this is a Teen Choice Award, you beautiful teens, there is one teen in the audience that is a part of the family and kept us going. Her name is Meadow Walker,’ Diesel said as he acknowledged the late actor’s daughter.

‘t was Paul Walker’s family, his brothers, his parents, that kept us going while we were filming Furious 7,’ Diesel said.

Show co-host Ludacris then announced that Walked was posthumously won in the category Choice Movie Actor: Action/Adventure.

‘We miss you and we will always, always love you, Paul,’ Brewster added on the stage.

‘Rest in peace!,’ Ludacris said.

‘I love all of you and until Fast 8,’ Diesel said revealing the title of the next installment in the franchise.

The song See You Again from Furious 7 by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Pluth also was named Choice Song from a Movie or TV Show and also Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song.

Khalifa also thanked Walker’s family while accepting his award.

‘Paul Walker and his family, thank you guys for embracing us and…just showing so much love,’ the rapper said.

The tribute song to Walker was the soundtrack’s lead single and following its release in March it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed there for 12 weeks.

See You Again tied the record for the longest run at number one for a rap single that was set by the Black Eyed Peas in 2009 with Boom Boom Pow.

Ice Cube, 46, and members of the cast of the new hit movie Straight Outta Compton opened the two-hour awards show that aired on Fox.

Straight Outta Compton debuted in first place over the weekend with an estimated $56.1 million at the box office.

Corey Hawkins who portrays Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell who plays Eazy-E and Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr, who portrays his father, introduced themselves to the crowd.

The show was co-hosted by Ludacris, 37, Gina Rodriguez, 30, and 28-year-old Josh Peck.

The awards ceremony featured several live performances including 5 Seconds Of Summer singing their new single She’s Kinda Hot early in the show.

Ellen DeGeneres was the first award winner to take the stage after being named Choice Comedian.

‘I’m honoured to be in that category,’ DeGeneres said as she accepted her surfboard award.

‘What makes you different right now makes you stand out later in life,’ the chat show host told the audience while also noting it was her seventh wedding anniversary to Portia de Rossi.

Josh Hutcherson of The Hunger Games franchise took home the surfboard for Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi and Fantasy and said he was sad to see the film series coming to an end with its final installment due out in November.

‘Hunger Games has been a huge part of my life for almost five years now. It’s coming to an end and it’s really sad. So if we want to cry together, we can do that because it breaks my heart,’ Hutcherson said.

Britney Spears, 33, who previously has won eight Teen Choice Awards was honoured with a special Candie’s Style Icon award.

The pop superstar wore a short grey minidress with a plunging neckline as she accepted her award.

‘To all the teens out there, be fearless in your choices and don’t be afraid to be yourself,’ Spears told the audience.

Spears had her blonde hair partially dyed blue and purple dedicated the award to her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and niece Lexie, who were in the audience.

She previously won the Teen Choice Awards version of a lifetime achievement award in 2009.

The Teen Choice Awards’ new reigning powerhouse, One Direction, landed eight awards, bringing their ‘lifetime’ total to 23. The British boy band, currently on tour, accepted the awards in a taped video.

Nina Dobrev, 26, wore fangs as she retrieved her award for Choice TV Actress: Sci-Fi/Fantasy and then turned her acceptance speech into a farewell address.

She announced in April that she was leaving The Vampire Diaries after six seasons and saying goodbye to her character Elena Gilbert.

‘I don’t need these anymore,’ Dobrev said as she removed her fangs.

The show also featured a performance from Jussie Smollett, Gabourey Sidibe and Bryshere ‘Yazz’ Gray from the hit Fox series Empire.

Robin Thicke and Flo Rida ended the show performing I Don’t Like It, I Love It.
