Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck may have caught us all off guard this weekend by revealing news of their surprise late-night wedding ceremony in Las Vegas, but one thing that was no doubt less of a revelation was that J.Lo wore not one but two major wedding dresses.

Forever a champion of occasion wear, there was never any doubt that the fashion icon would go for it in the bridal style stakes.

But rather than opt for a custom creation from any of the major fashion houses who were no doubt queuing up for such a moment, J.Lo leant into the ‘something old’ concept and opted for a sentimental piece from her own wardrobe that she’d kept from a wedding scene which was cut from the film Jersey Girl – a romcom that J.Lo and Ben filmed when they were engaged for the first time in the early 00s.

“So with the best witnesses you could ever imagine, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives,” she wrote in her ‘On the JLo’ newsletter.

“I’ve had this dress for so many years,” she revealed, “and I’ve just been saving it, saving it, saving it, and now I’m wearing it on my wedding day.”

A surprisingly, yet refreshingly, low-key dress for such a mega-star with an eye for the extravagant, the silhouette gave a sweet fit-and-flare shape while the embroidered fabric gave the look an almost quilted feel.

Having tapped into nostalgic sentiment for her first dress, J.Lo then switched into a thoroughly more modern look via an off-the-shoulder shoulder lace gown by Zuhair Murad from the brand’s Spring 2023 bridal collection (look 9, to be precise, if you’re in the market for such a piece…).

Finishing off the look with a matching lace veil, Jennifer Lopez – or, rather, Jennifer Lynn Affleck – was every inch the beautiful, blushing bride.

Posting on her own Instagram page the morning after, the bride shared an image of herself in bed wearing a wedding ring and telling her followers “iykyk”.

Well, J.Lo, now we know. And we couldn’t be more excited for Bennifer!
