Henry racked up numerous trophies and awards during a glittering eight-year spell with Arsenal, and formed a deadly partnership with Dennis Bergkamp for the Gunners’ Invincibles side of ’04

Thierry Henry has been hailed as the best player to ever showcase his skills on British shores for ‘reducing top-class opponents into helpless also-rans’.

Few have graced the Premier League quite like Henry, who won back-to-back PFA Player of the Year awards and went on to break Arsenal’s all-time goalscoring record.

He even tallied almost double the amount of goals of former Gunners striker Alan Smith, who believes no one matches up to the Frenchman.

“Henry is the best player I have ever seen ply his trade in this country,” Smith told the Sun. “Not just the best striker, but the best player, due to the fact that I saw him do things no one else has done.”

Among Henry’s top moments is winning the Premier League title in 2004 with Arsenal’s unbeaten Invincibles side.

During that campaign Henry scored a marvellous solo goal against Liverpool, dribbling past several experienced defenders including Jamie Carragher.

It came just two years after he produced a similar effort against Tottenham, starting his run from the halfway line.

Smith added: “He reduced top-class opponents into helpless also-rans. He totally embarrassed seasoned professionals with his outrageous pace, strength, skill and confidence.

“In short, he elevated the striker’s art on to a level not seen before or since.”

Henry finished his Arsenal career with two Premier League winners medals, as well as a wealth of individual awards, including four golden boots.
