Frenkie de Jong’s girlfriend talks about the Barcelona star coming to Man Utd

When asked about her boyfriend’s potential transfer to Man Utd, Frenkie de Jong’s girlfriend had some fun.

The Barcelona star was at the centre of a major saga in the summer window as manager Erik ten Hag was desperate to sign the player.

The Netherlands international had his breakthrough campaign in 2018 at Ajax when Ten Hag was in charge and was eyed as a marquee signing at Old Trafford but a deal could not be agreed.

But that has not stopped interest from fans in the 25-year-old, who has made 25 appearances for Barcelona this season.

And his partner, Mikky Kiemeney, has had some fun with one fan, after repeated online questions about whether he is coming to Manchester or not

And one plucky United fan tried to find out some information by asking De Jong’s girlfriend Mikky Kiemeney on Instagram about if the player was actually coming to Manchester.

Mikky replied with a screenshot of Barcelona’s fixtures, which include a trip to Old Trafford this month in the Europa League.

Captioning the picture, she joked, referring to the date the two sides meet: “23-2 I guess.”

United and Barcelona will face off this month in the Europa League first knockout round in a tasty tie.

The first leg will go ahead on February 16 at Nou Camp before the return leg a week later at Old Trafford.

Whether United will go back in for De Jong this summer remains to be seen having been knocked back by the player and Barcelona but their financial situation might have a huge effect.

The Spanish giants have recently been suffering from massive problems at the bank and could be forced to sell players in the summer.

De Jong had been tipped as a high-value target who could bring in a big transfer fee to help balance the books somewhat at Barcelona.

The midfielder had appeared to be resistant to a move to United at first but as they continue to improve under Ten Hag, that position could change.

If they finish in the top four, the Red Devils will become a much more desirable location while they look in fine fettle this campaign and sit third in the Premier League.
